I'm a Basque computer engineer who decided to explore new paths and is now working with astronomical so-called big data – although I prefer to call myself a glorified space librarian – in a southern German university since the summer of 2018. My given name is very easy to tell, innit?

One might ask: “why a blog in this day and age?”; and my answer would be that 1) I prefer to own what I write and 2) with time I've come to increasingly dislike social media – including comments. I already blog in Basque since 2017 in this domain, since that's the actual purpose of .eus. I won't link it because you're most likely to not understand it. Additionally, I'd prefer to hone my english writing skills. According to a piece of paper I've got a C1 level in the CEFR. C2 is hard but practise makes perfect. As for my German level, es ist leider nicht gut genug für in einem Blog schreiben.

In this place I intend to mostly write technical and other stuff related to my area of knowledge – my job uses English as the main language. I already write about politics and such in my Basque blog and I rather compartimentalise it.

As for the technical side of things, for anyone who is curious: this is a static blog powered by Jekyll using a customised minima theme and hosted in a Debian server. I tried to maintain external content to a bare minimum – I serve some fonts via Google Fonts.
